Valerie vs the Machine

This extreme machine was put to the test against Valerie Vili in Auckland early December. The ‘Mega Grunta’ was designed by students Rhyan Jane and Brandan Taylor from Central Hawkes Bay College (pictured with Valerie Vili). The ‘Mega Grunta’ bet over 400 other entries to be named one of two winning designs in the Valerie vs the Machine competition. The competition, run by Visa, challenged school children to design a machine to throw a shotput Valerie’s gold medal-winning throw of 20.56 metres.
