Whitireia graduation celebrated this week
Tomorrow over 350 students will be graduating from their programmes of study at Whitireia, at a ceremony being held at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua City.

New Appointments to WelTec and Whitireia Council
Roger Sowry, Chair of the Council of WelTec and Whitireia today announced the appointment of Fran Wilde to the institutions’ governing body. “I am very pleased to announce Fran’s appointment and grateful to her for accepting this new role particularly given her busy schedule as Chair of the Greater Wellington Regional Council,” says Mr Sowry.
Scholarship recipients off to a good start
Nine students from secondary schools in the greater Wellington region were welcomed to Whitireia this week. These students were all recipients of 2014 Whitireia Secondary School Leavers Fee Scholarships.

Mitch Jago and Rayden Moore Feuu, have had their carpentry study at Whitireia recognised at a ceremony this week, when they were awarded the Randall Shaw Memorial Award. This award is given annually by the Rotary Club of Plimmerton, in association with Brights Mitre 10, Paramata.

Radio Training School graduates have won again at this year's New Zealand Radio Awards.
Gary Pointon has picked up the Best New Broadcaster – Promotions award while Laugharne Kemp has picked up the Best New Broadcaster – Creative + Technical award.

Whitireia floristry tutor Megan Parker won silver for her exhibition in the Floral Art Individual category at the recent Ellerslie International Flower Show in Christchurch. Up against 13 competitors in her category, Megan took away the highest award.

The new Health education facility at Whitireia was officially opened yesterday by the Hon Tony Ryall, Minister of Health. The new building has been named Wikitoria Katene, the name gifted to the previous health building, by Ngāti Toa in 2008.

New location working well for Kāpiti campus
Whitireia in Kāpiti has been operating from its new campus on the corner of Milne Drive and Kapiti Road for a year. February last year saw the official opening of the new start-of-the art campus which provides tertiary education study opportunities for students in the Kāpiti region.
