Shuttle passed by New Zealand on final approach to the space station

Early this morning at 4:20 a.m New Zealand time shuttle  "Atlantis" on mission STS-129 passed over New Zealand as it approached the International Space Station only about an hour and a half before docking.

Shuttle to dock with International Space Station over New Zealand

Tomorrow at 5:55 a.m New Zealand Space Shuttle STS-127 is due to dock with the International Space Station just as the two spacecraft come over the New Zealand horizon.  Unfortunately they will be in the earth's shadow at the time, but at around 5:57 a.m the sun will shine on the united complex so it will be visible for a few minutes in the Southeastern sky and appear quite bright, weather permitting.

Free travel on Valley Flyer and Airport Flyer with Snapper

WELLINGTON CITY — Many commuters may not be aware that they can travel for free using their Snapper card on Valley Flyer and Airport Flyer buses from today through to Saturday.  This is part of the introduction of the Snapper service on these buses as from 14 June.

Valley Flyer to introduce Snapper; no more transfers, limited opportunity to convert

LOWER HUTT — Valley Flyer, the bus company providing most bus services for the Hutt Valley, is changing to the Snapper card from the Go Rider card as from 14 June.   The announcement of the change was made on 3 June by press release and advertising material has been gradually released thereafter, giving commuters very little warning of the change.
