Flammable fumes and welding do not mix

Greymouth — The death of a Greymouth man, who was killed when a bitumen tank exploded is a tragic reminder to employers and contractors of the risks of welding near sources of flammable fumes, according to the Department of Labour.

Motorcyclist named after fatal crash

Greymouth — Police can now release the name of the sole motorcyclist who died after crashing after he lost control of his Ducati motorcycle, on State Highway 6 near Greymouth, at about 5.10pm on the 25th October 2009 as: Matthew Edward Carpinter, 31 years of age of Kaiapoi, Canterbury.
