Dun Mountain trail closed for upgrade

Nelson — The 34 km Dun Mountain Trail, which loops between Brook Valley and the Maitai River Dam following the route of New Zealand’s first railway line, is now closed to bikes during a track construction and upgrade over the next few months.

Nelson — A multiple-car ‘wrong slot” and subsequent series of crashes derailed the hopes of some of the top contenders in today’s opening South Island round of 2010 Asset Finance New Zealand Offroad Racing National Championship.

Moriarty now takes the overall lead in the 2010 Asset Finance New Zealand Offroad Racing National Championship with two rounds complete.

Bicycle Nelson Bays Commences Upcycle

Nelson — Cycle Advocates Network member, Bicycle Nelson Bays (BNB) is pleased to announce their new initiative for the Nelson and Tasman regions; Upcycle! BNB spokesperson, Stephen White, says “thanks to funding from NMDHB and support from both Nelson and Tasman Councils, Upcycle! will start on Friday morning, 23rd February, initially in Nelson and Stoke, possibly being extended to Richmond in April”. Mr White says “it is to be celebrated when advocates, councils and health board are moving together by supporting active transportation which addresses wider issues such as health, obesity and general well-being, as well as traffic congestion”.
