Christchurch Airport wins top award for aviation safety

Christchurch — Christchurch International Airport was presented with the Jim Collins Memorial award for Aviation Safety at the NZ Airline Pilots’ Association (NZALPA) conference in Auckland on Tuesday evening – and then the CEO and Chief Operating Officer had to charter a flight straight back to Christchurch to deal with the latest significant 5.3 aftershock.

Passenger numbers at Christchurch Airport stay steady after quake

Christchurch — An analysis by Christchurch International Airport of airline passenger movements between Friday 3 Sep 2010 and Wednesday 8 Sep 2010 shows that aside from a significant dip on the day of the earthquake when the airport was closed for seven hours, passenger movements have stayed steady in the week following the quake, comparable to numbers from the same time last year.
