Former All Black runs with the best at Pegasus triathlon

Canterbury — Former All Black, New Zealand Maori, New Zealand Sevens captain and Canterbury rugby forward Dallas Seymour is stepping into new territory on Sunday as he participates for the first time in a triathlon – as the runner in a team at the Contact Tri Series event at Pegasus, competing in a sprint race over 750m swim, 20km bike and a 5km run.

Christchurch — Christchurch Ironman champion Gina Crawford is a surprise but welcome entry for the Contact National Duathlon Championships in Christchurch on Sunday August 22, adding both a local and international flavour to the days racing, giving everyday participants in the sport the chance to say ‘I raced on the same course alongside an international Ironman champion.’ Tri NZ Event Manager Haidee Stratford says Crawford’s entry adds a real buzz to the day.

Emotional victory for returning Rhodes

Timaru — Ironman triathlete Bryan Rhodes secured an emotional victory at the Contact Tri Series in Timaru today, announcing his return to the sport by defending his title in his first full triathlon after suffering a snapped Achilles tendon in August last year while Janine Simpson won the women’s as she too continues her return after serious injury.
